Spa & Recovery Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota
At our Spa & Recovery Center, we believe massage has many benefits for the body and soul that can aid our guests’ recovery and rehabilitation. Massage relaxes the mind and muscles while improving circulation, draining lymph nodes, and assisting detoxification. Below are the types of messages we offer.
1. Swedish massage
Swedish massage is recommended for those who are new to massage therapy and wish to release physical tension comfortably. Many remove clothing for the Swedish massage, but you may keep undergarments on if you desire, or discuss other options with your masseuse before beginning. A sheet will cover your body, and the masseuse will only uncover the parts of the body as they are massaged. Swedish massage should be relaxing and not painful, while the masseuse uses kneading, tapping, stroking, and vibrations to relieve knotted muscles and improve circulation. Swedish massage can last from 15-90 minutes and can be full body or focus on target areas.
2. Hot stone massage
Hot stone massage has similar benefits as Swedish massage but involves the masseuse using heated stones rather than hands. This type of massage is recommended for those who prefer a more hands-off approach to massage therapy. The heat of the stones allows for more muscle relaxation. Because the hot stones need to come in contact with the skin to work, clothing must be removed (except undergarments, if guests prefer) for hot stone massage.
3. Aromatherapy massage
Aromatherapy massage combines the techniques of Swedish massage with the soothing benefits of essential oils to relax the mind and body. Guests will be able to select their scents before the massage. Essential oils are diffused throughout the room for a fully immersive aromatherapy experience, while the masseuse also rubs the oils into the skin. Essential oils have a multitude of health benefits, and the masseuse will discuss the scents and benefits of available oils so you can choose the aromatherapy experience that is right for you. Because the oils need to be absorbed through the skin, clothing must be removed for aromatherapy massage, except undergarments if preferred.
4. Deep tissue massage
Deep tissue massage is similar to Swedish massage, but uses more pressure and is higher intensity. If you do not get enough relief from Swedish massage or prefer a firmer touch, deep massage is the right option for you. Like Swedish massage, clothing is usually removed except undergarments if preferred, but guests can discuss options with the masseuse before beginning.
